Herro,
Long time no talk - 24 hours can feel like forever... <---- sarcasm
Today I had my third Arthurian legend tutorial, it went... well. I did not feel as strong about my paper as I had in the last two, but she said I am improving so I will take her at her word and leave it at that. Last night I went to the oxford union and was two rows away from a performance by Brandon Boyd (singer) and Mike Einziger (lead guitar) of Incubus. It was sweet, both of them are very very nice people. I asked a question in the Q&A time directed to Brandon and he was impartial with his attention and the answer was exactly what I wanted to hear (you'll have to ask me what I asked him to find out ;)
After the concert, we weaseled our way into the after party and talked to them a bit more, it was pretty sweet also.
I just got done with a one-on-one with a british dude I met at St. Ebbe's, the Anglican church I am attending. We shared stories of our background, talked about science, music and about witnessing to non-believers. It was most encouraging to reconnect with a fellow believer and encourage each other.
Only one more week until Aix En Provence!!!
love all of you :)

Dear Alex, I just handed to Gpa your question (from March 4th ) about how someone can believe in Christ if he has not known His name. .. etc... Here is our answer.
ReplyDeleteRomans 10: 13-15 This question is age old. Only God can give us the answer when we get to heaven. We do know however that some who have gone to primitive tribes have been told that they have a (tradition, story, lore?) that some day someone will come to them and tell of "the promised one" who will tell them the "way" to spiritual life. (Or however they explain it. )
We know from scripture that God draws individuals to Himself.
Jesus said - John 17:1-3 and 18-21. They who believe accept Jehovah as the only true God and Jesus Christ, who He had sent into the world. Jesus prays for His disciples in chapter 17 and for those who will yet believe in Him through the testimony of the apostles - and down through the ages (you and me).
So . . .The points that are necessary are
1- .WHO GOD IS - HE IS JEHOVAH GOD - not to be confused with the Mormon's god or the Muslim's idea of God. They are not the same, though their adherents have given them a name meaning god.
2- JEHOVAH GOD IS ONE GOD. Who has manifested Himself in three equal and eternal persons we call the trinity.
3- THE DIETY OF CHRIST. Only God Himself in the form of man (Christ) can save. Any other characterization of Christ or with the same or another other name is not Christ. John 14:6 are Jesus declared - He is the only way, the only truth and the only life.
4- CHRIST CAME TO EARTH IN BODILY FORM - HE WAS THE GOD/MAN. I John 4: 1,2 There are those who say that Christ is just a spiritual concept, that He was not a real man and could not suffer for our sins, die or be raised to life. There is no salvation there. Acts 4:12 “There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
5- CHRIST HAD TO DIE AND RISE TO LIFE TO PROVIDE SALVATION. I Cor 15: 3,4 and 15-17 Muslims deny this. Buddhism and Hinduism believe in reincarnation and ultimate oblivion. They reject this truth about Jesus.
6- MANKIND IS LOST IN SIN. Romans 1:16 to 2:18 All mankind carries a sin nature through being born to this world. These verses are God's declaration of man's condition. He has the last say as to how someone can be accepetd into His (God's) family.
7- TO BE SAVED EVERY PERSON MUST REPENT OF HIS OR HER SIN (- Luke 13,3 Jesus says , “ ...unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”) AND RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST AS PERSONAL SAVIOR. Romans 10:9,10. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS.
Perhaps you see this as a non answer to your question, yet it is the only answer that is available through Scripture. I hope this is helpful.
Gpa & Gma J
This absolutely is an answer. However, there is much debate on the issue, and I agree with a little on all sides. I believe that the four ways that God reveals himself are...
ReplyDelete1. The Word
2. The Holy Spirit
3. Reason
4. Tradition
Through these four ways I am trying to figure it out. Thank you for your feedback, I treasure both of you so much :)
